This book gets two stars only because the author is a capable writer. Most of the scenes with and about the harridan fit with the paranormal theme, although it took long enough to get there. My problems are with too many unbelievable, and sometimes two-dimensional characters.Product details

Sallowed Blood edition by Stuart G Yates Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love this & I can't wait for more.
I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ .
And letting everyone know about it.
So i gave it a 5 Stars.
Interesting historical background that kept me interested until the end.
Mr. Yates,
You must insist on a new editor. Your current editor let the book be published with confusing errors like different names for the same character. I like your adolescent character until the very end when you sold him out for a sequel.
Quick read. There were many grammatical errors or missing words in sentences. The story did not flow well. I did not connect with the characters.
A castle in the Bavarian Alps is the setting for a tale as picturesque as the Sound of Music, but the noises from beneath are not angelic voices. There is moaning and growls in the night and young Dan is reminded of Beowulf and darker tales. The castle is staffed by creepy people, lurking and eavesdropping, and the villagers warn Dan and his father to flee. Dan's handsome tutor, Rex, discovers a history related to events in the south of France and the story begins to unravel, but there are murders and disappearances to distract young Dan and threaten the sobriety of his father. Yates is a great storyteller, keeping the reader peering around each corridor in the dark castle.
This book seemed interesting to me from the description, but when I started reading the reviews, I was intrigued, particularly by the reviewer who said that the book needed a re-edit, to which the author responded that it did not. I decided to read the book for myself to see who was correct.
It was the reviewer.
There were certain aspects of the story that were extremely intriguing, particularly the backstory and the looks into the medieval timeframe. Clearly, the author did a great deal of research, and I really liked this part of the story. I also liked the mystery involved. There were twists and turns that I did not see coming, and even though parts of the plot seemed farfetched to me, I thought the plot was creative and unlike anything I had read before.
That being said, there are grammatical errors. There are punctuation errors. There are words missing from sentences. Here are some examples from about 60% through the book
"She mouth chewing over her words."
"They don't me to get in touch with Dad."
"The chanting continued, which grated grating on Daniel's nerves."
"...hoisted her higher for a moment before laying lay her down..."
"... these elements nee a little verification..."
All of these examples are within a few pages of each other.
The other reviewer also mentions that a character changes names. Yes--the solicitor is called Spencer, and then Simpson, and then Spencer again.
One other thing that really bothered me is that the main character's father is called Dad in the story--as if that were his name. I understand that this is third person limited, but it is still told in third person, not first. And there are scenes where Daniel is not present and the character is still referred to by the narrator as Dad. I don't understand why Mr. Stone couldn't be called by his name instead of Dad--he wasn't everyone's dad. I've never read a book written in third person before where a character isn't called by his name, rather than being identified by his relationship to the main character.
Overall, I think this was a pretty good book, but it would be better if the errors were corrected. I would recommend this book to people who like historical fiction and paranormal.
This book gets two stars only because the author is a capable writer. Most of the scenes with and about the harridan fit with the paranormal theme, although it took long enough to get there. My problems are with too many unbelievable, and sometimes two-dimensional characters.
